What it is
OEGP (Onchain Eternal Growth Plants) is a serene botanical greenhouse for crypto collectors: a collection of 9,888 dynamic plant NFTs on Ethereum that you plant, tend, and watch grow through nine distinct stages of life. The Garden App is the companion product: a calm, cream-and-green home for your plants in a market full of neon dashboards.
This is the site's retention probe. The thesis under test: care mechanics beat reward mechanics.
Full disclosure: the original project failed as a market. The founders took the mint proceeds and left the space, abandoning the product from the consumer's perspective. But the game is entirely onchain, so the garden survived them. The Garden App is a resurrection: a new interface on the abandoned game state, which is exactly the kind of product innovation only permissionless systems allow.

The premise
Most "gamified" crypto apps are slot machines wearing a quest log. OEGP asks a different question: can onchain state feel alive? A plant that grows because its contract state changed is a fundamentally different emotional object than a JPEG with a rarity score. Care replaces speculation as the core loop.
What I built
The Garden: your personal greenhouse: every plant you own, its species, growth stage, and what it needs next Species field guide: eight species across the rarity ladder, from the 88-supply Origin Tree to Astral Lotus, Prism Bonsai, and Lantern Orchid Plant & Ritual flows: planting, tending, and stage progression driven directly by contract state; the chain is the save file Explore, Market & Analytics: collection stats (floor, owners, volume), listings via an OpenSea-backed data layer, and growth analytics Notes, streaks & favorites: lightweight personal layers that reward showing up, not spending
Design deliberately runs against the crypto grain: botanical calm (cream, green, terracotta) instead of dark-mode neon. A greenhouse, not a trading floor.
What I learned
Gamification works onchain when the chain's actual properties (persistence, shared state, provenance) are the game, not when points get stapled onto a swap. Consistency beats volume: you can't whale your way to a prettier garden. People come back daily to tend something that grows. Nobody comes back daily to admire a points balance.
And the biggest lesson came from the founders leaving: when the save file is the chain, abandonment converts a product into a commons. Anyone can pick it up and build again. That is not a consolation prize; that is the whole pitch.
